“Although I’m on the composing track at Idyllwild, I decided to play my own piece. I realize that I might be disqualified from the competition but I didn’t come up here to Idyllwild to win. I came here to learn from my teachers and from my peers, not to compete against them. I had a hard time this summer because I got all caught up in trying to prove that I belonged here that I lost the joy of making music. I’d like to reclaim that now and do what I love most…perform.”
